Sugo Pasta - Glasgow
Designers: Studio/DRG
The project reworked a former backstreet bar into a high-capacity dining space while retaining its structural character. The design balances fast-turnover service with a warm atmosphere, anchored by an exposed kitchen and integrated seating. Lead interior designer Jelena Kerr described the brief as finding "a balance between performance and atmosphere, creating a space that can operate at pace while still feeling warm, engaging and cohesive."
The Cresswell Lane venue introduces exposed steel trusses and glazed skylights beneath a double-height pitched ceiling, with glass-cut tiles adding reflectivity against the industrial shell. The wider material palette spans timber, leather, cork, and mild steel cladding, with Arabescato Viola marble at the kitchen counters as a refined counterpoint to the rawness of the space.
