The Reserve - Chester Zoo

The Reserve is a newly launched, safari-inspired luxury lodge resort set within Chester Zoo’s stunning Heart of Africa zone. Opened in August 2025, it comprises 51 beautifully designed lodges that immerse guests in unforgettable wildlife experiences while supporting the zoo’s vital conservation work.

Archi.tile was invited by the zoo to contribute to the design of several key areas, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal through a carefully considered mix of porcelain tiles and engineered wood. Within The Reserve’s reception building, around 450 square metres of specially oiled engineered wood was installed to withstand heavy foot traffic, while porcelain tiles were chosen for high-use areas such as the bar, toilets, and kitchens.

Each of the 51 lodges showcases a bespoke blend of our tiles, but perhaps the most striking feature is the exterior copper bath. Here, guests can relax with a refreshing Stoney ginger beer, enjoy sweeping views of the savannah, and appreciate the beauty of our carefully selected finishes.
